Sorry for the last minute announcement, but I'll be at the Cyclorama tomorrow with a boat load of other crafters at the Bazaar Bizarre, from 1 to 6. Last year was a blast, and I'm looking forward to the event. Hope to see you there!

Just when you think 80grit has been in hibernation! Quite the contrary, I've been too busy to update the site. I've met many more Star Wars and ILM people through the Museum of Science, the most recognizable name being Anthony Daniels, who played C-3PO in all six movies. Not only was I fortunate enough to meet him in person, I was also commissioned by the MOS to make him a BlipBlipBeepBot! How nerdy cool is that? I also had a show at Dover Studio, which alas, has come and gone. Now it's time to put it in full gear for the Somerville Open Studios, a mere three weeks away!

Last night I met Rob Coleman, the animation director for LucasArts! He was giving a lecture at the Museum of Science, and he was presented a thank you gift from the Museum of Science. It was the OnathBlipBlipBeepBot, which the Museum used as their icon for the BrainyActs lecture series. Needless to say I was thrilled!

I am very excited to have discovered a new way to make jewelry. I tig weld a stainless bicycle spoke onto the metal and build it up to make shapes and objects. I'm calling it molten spoke, and I can't wait to explore this technique further!

Busy busy busy! There's been a lapse in the web updating, only due to the fact that things are hoppin' at 80grit! The Diesel Show was a ton of fun, lots of people were very excited to see it go up, and sad to see it go down. Several new pieces were made specifically for the show, such as more blasters and some breakerbots. Since then, a lot of new stuff is being made, like the baby spoon. I met some amazing people from the Museum of Science, and they commissioned me to make some trophies for a tallbike competition.

MissingLinks are here! I know, I know! There's been this "coming soon" icon on the gallery page for a month! So it took me a long time to come up with a name for the things. And I had to actually make the little buggers! Click here to go to the page.

We hosted a metalworking clinic here at the fort. Bird came over and taught a class on forming, brazing and riveting. It was very enlightening. Thanks, Bird!
